SUGAR COAT – SOUTH WALES WEDDING BAND FOR LIVE EVENTS

Welcome to Sugar Coat, a four-piece South Wales wedding band blending pop, rock, and party anthems with powerhouse vocals, slick musicianship, and unstoppable energy. We bring unforgettable live entertainment to weddings, parties, and corporate events across South Wales and beyond.

Born from the success of Stereo Hearts and The Highlights, two of the region’s most in-demand wedding bands, Sugar Coat is the next chapter - same passion, new energy. After years of packed dancefloors, unforgettable first dances, and late-night singalongs, we wanted to evolve into something even bigger, bolder, and better.

OUR STORY

We’re musicians who live for live performance - the kind that fills a room, keeps the crowd dancing, and creates moments people talk about for years. Whether it’s your wedding, your birthday, or a work event that turns into a full-blown party, we’re the soundtrack to your night.

Our setup is clean and modern (yes, including a silent stage and electric drum kit for sound-limited venues). Our setlist is packed with floor-fillers, and our vibe is friendly, fun, and completely professional. We care about the details — timing, flow, first dances, and encores - and we know how to keep the room’s energy perfect.

With years of experience, killer sound, and a shared love of great music, Sugar Coat is ready to make your night unforgettable.

KIRST

LEAD SINGER, DRAMA QUEEN EXTRAORDINAIRE

Kirst has been singing since she was old enough to demand someone hold a torch so she could put on a show — and honestly, she’s never really stopped. Inspired by the legendary Stevie Nicks and the timeless magic of Fleetwood Mac, her voice has filled some incredible venues, including the world-famous Royal Albert Hall.

Her pre-gig ritual? A pot of Super Noodles and a full-volume car singalong to warm up. Proudest musical moment?Playing to a packed house at the Royal Albert Hall. Funniest gig moment? Getting locked out of a venue mid-pack-down and being told there was “no way” she was the singer — apparently she’s much taller on stage.

A former euphonium player in a brass band (yes, really), Kirst says if she were a dessert, she’d be a Welsh cakesweet, full of character, and proudly rolling her r’s. When she’s not on stage, she’s probably out rescuing stray animals (so please keep booking us, or she’s going to need a much bigger house).

Her on-stage magic lies in finding her “party people” in the crowd and keeping them moving all night. And if you ever need her off-duty? Just stick her on a stage in the sun and she’s in her happy place.

RHODRI

GUITARIST, PROFESSIONAL OVERTHINKER

Rhodri has been slinging six-strings for 19 years — which he insists is just long enough to realise he should probably practise more. Raised on Metallica but recently obsessed with modern Country, he fuses big riffs with tight storytelling — the kind that keeps wedding dance floors buzzing.

Career highs include a spin on BBC Radio 1 and the surreal moment he heard one of his own tracks blasting from a passing car. Pre-gig? He’s a Starbucks drive-thru connoisseur: coffee plus brownie, happiness achieved.

He feeds off crowd energy on stage — you bring the vibe, he brings the grin. And yes, he once learned the hard way why belts exist: no belt, too much jumping, and a slow-motion trouser escape mid-song.

Rhodri is a published poet, a custard slice loyalist, and secretly loves the pressure of a first dance. Dream gig location? Anywhere but Memphis — the players there are too good, and he’s not emotionally ready to feel like a beginner again.

RHYDIAN

BASS PLAYER, HARMONY PROVIDER, AND THE BAND’S RESIDENT JOKESTER

Bass player, harmony provider, and the band’s resident jokester — Rhydian loves throwing out silly comments just to get a laugh, keeping everyone entertained before the first note is played. He’s been laying down grooves since his teensand still hasn’t figured out how to keep hold of his car keys before a gig.

Musically, he started on piano at age 5, picked up bass at 13, and made his live vocal debut at 10 years old… as Scary Spice in a Spice Girls tribute act at school. Since then, he’s played live on BBC Radio 2, had his songs featured on major US TV shows, and somehow kept all his teeth despite constantly being smacked in the face by rogue microphones.

Favourite track to perform? Whole Lotta Rosie by AC/DCpure energy and bassline glory. Off stage, he’s probably in the garden obsessing over his Japanese maple trees, or reminding everyone that he once got an A* in his English Literature GCSE… by handing in the lyrics to Incubus’ “Wish You Were Here” for a poetry question. Proof that sometimes plagiarism really does pay.

If he were a dessert, he’d be a Victoria sponge: simple, dependable, and a little fruity. On stage, he’s all dad dancing, head bopping, and locked-in low-end that keeps the dance floor bouncing.

Dream gig? Touring as Sabrina Carpenter’s bass player. We’re assuming this is purely for the love of her music!

TOM

DRUMMER, ENERGY DEALER, TIMEKEEPING KING

With 18 years behind the kit, Tom is the rhythmic engine of Sugar Coat. Fuelled by the power of Nirvana and Metallica, he’s been drumming up a storm since his teens — even signing to a music label and going on tour while the rest of us were still figuring out power chords.

Favourite song to play live? Footloose — a high-tempo crowd-pleaser packed with juicy drum fills. Proudest moment off stage? Turning up to a gig a full 24 hours early. He calls it “dedication.” We call it “enthusiasm.”

Ambidextrous by nature, Tom plays drums left-handed and guitar right-handed — because why make life simple? Pre-gig ritual? “Pee and a pint.”
If he were a dessert, he’d be tiramisu: practical, tasty, and guaranteed to give you a kick.

Tom’s happiest when watching newlyweds and party guests lose themselves in the music. Dream destination? Italy— mostly for the post-gig food. Until then, he’s keeping the energy high and the crowd clapping along to every beat.

BAND DYNAMICS – BEHIND THE SCENES OF SUGAR COAT

Biggest Diva: Kirst - And proud of it. Demands only the finest Super Noodles before every show.

Most Likely to Get Lost: Kirst - Sat-nav? Never heard of her. At least she always arrives stylishly late.

Equipment Expert: Rhodri - If something’s broken, he’s already fixed it… and labelled the cable. The guy probably dreams in patch bays.

Biggest Joker: Rhodri - Never trust your mic settings when he’s around. Prankster-in-chief.

Most Reliable: Tom - The human metronome. Never late, never out of time, and always has a spare drumstick.

Most Laid-Back: Tom - Chill levels: maximum. Could be mid-solo and still look like he’s on holiday.

Social Media Guru: Kirst - Captions, angles, filters — she’s got it covered (and probably posted it before the gig ended).
